Looking for a truly exceptional cocktail in Prague? Under the direction of Head Bartender Jan Foukal, Black Angel’s Bar introduced a carefully curated cocktail menu inspired by Dan Brown’s latest novel. The collection combines layered flavour profiles, the neo-Gothic atmosphere of the bar, and a subtle connection to the world of the bestselling author.
Before joining Black Angel’s, Head Bartender Honza Foukal worked as both a bartender and a competitor in mixology championships. Today, he has spent more than eleven years shaping the identity of Black Angel’s Bar, where his experience culminated in a cocktail collection created in honour of Dan Brown’s new novel, The Secret of Secrets.
The menu naturally reflects the atmosphere of the bar itself - a hidden neo-Gothic space beneath Prague’s Old Town, where guests come not simply to drink, but to enjoy cocktails with intention and attention. The drinks are built around balanced bittersweet flavours, while the overall concept feels calm, confident and timeless.
Over the years, Black Angel’s Bar has become popular not only among Prague locals, but also among international visitors. One of its most notable regular guests is author Dan Brown himself, who even placed part of the story of his latest novel, The Secret of Secrets, inside the bar.
To honour both the author and his literary universe, Black Angel’s created a special cocktail menu inspired by the symbolism, atmosphere and tension found throughout Brown’s novels.
The cocktails are sophisticated and often built around contrasts. Katherine combines Martell VS, Grand Marnier, DOM Bénédictine and Fernet Branca. The Bridge brings together MUYU Vetiver Gris, Goldcock Barrel Aged, lime, egg white and simple syrup. Search for the Secret is built around gin, lemon liqueur and verjus made from unripe grapes. Inferno, meanwhile, combines fresh sugar cane juice, Barbados liqueur, lime and ginger for a more vibrant expression.
The Dan Brown collection also reflects the international spirit and long-standing reputation of Black Angel’s Bar, which continues to rank among some of the world’s leading cocktail bars.
Katherine is built on a base of Martell VS, which gives the cocktail elegance and structure, while Grand Marnier and DOM Bénédictine introduce gentle sweetness and herbal depth. A final touch of Fernet Branca darkens the profile slightly, adding bitterness and a sense of sophistication. The result is a cocktail that unfolds gradually rather than immediately - much like Brown’s heroine herself.
The Bridge acts as a connection between modern mixology and classic elegance. MUYU Vetiver Gris brings earthy and lightly smoky notes, while Goldcock Barrel Aged adds depth and maturity. Lime, egg white and simple syrup create a silky texture and a carefully balanced interplay between freshness and creaminess.
Search for the Secret is a cocktail for curious minds. Built on a gin base, it is complemented by lemon liqueur and verjus made from unripe grapes. The result is fresh and lightly tart, with an elegant dryness that feels almost meditative in the atmosphere of Black Angel’s Bar. Rather than overwhelming the palate, the cocktail guides it gently - much like Brown’s stories themselves.
Inferno is the boldest and most energetic cocktail of the collection. Fresh sugar cane juice brings natural sweetness, balanced by a Barbados liqueur. Lime and ginger add a lightly spicy warmth that slowly develops across the palate. The cocktail is expressive, confident and vibrant, while remaining refined and perfectly composed.
